Failte-Welcome

Immrama were ancient ‘voyage tales’– allegories of our journey through life. In the year 563CE, thirteen Irish monks travelled in a small wooden boat to Scotland. Their leader, Columba, or Colmcille, became a great Celtic saint, who still inspires people today.

Based on the physical exhibition in St. Columba’s, here we tell a little of Columba’s story and invite you to reflect on your own journey – your voyage tale.

There are also resources to help you explore what life was like in Columba’s day, the connections to our own day, and your personal story.

There are five themes - Journey, Community, Nature, Humanity and Culture - accessed from the menu at the top of the page.
